Management of Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding:what Is New?

چکیده
Pharmacotherapy has focused on the use of profound acid suppression with proton-pump inhibitors in the treatment of patients with nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Experimental data have shown that gastric acid impairs clot formation, promotes platelet disaggregation, and favors fibrinolysis. The pharmaco therapeutic goal post haemostasis is therefore to achieve an intragastric pH>6.0 at which optimal clot formation and stabilization is achieved.
